I've Totally Lost Respect For Cafe Istambul.

Recommended Posts

I used to buy from there a lot. They have pretty good prices, almost the same as online. I went there the other day and my boyfriend and I were looking through the new Starbuzz flavors. But the owner yelled at us for touching all the Starbuzz tins. How are we supposed to pick out a flavor without smelling the shisha? take my business elsewhere.

Wow almost every place I go to they are more than willing to let you smell the shisha unless it is sealed like AF is.

Wow... you'd think that with the troubled economy business owners would make an effort to at least not actively discourage customers. Especially regular customers. If I were you, I'd take my business elsewhere.

wow, thats very strange for them... new employee? I have never had any trouble there at all... hell they usually give me alot of discounts! perhaps he thought you looked kind of shady? I have seen people try and jack shisha out of tins before, and I always make it a point to make sure they put it back or pay for it just so I am still able to smell the shisha before I buy.

You were the one who got us to go there. When you told my boyfriend, Annual, about Cafe Istambul. We've been pretty loyal customers since then.

He's definitely not new. He's the old guy who always sits in the corner and never really says anything. And it's not like we were acting shady. Just indecisive.

if you stop going in because of mean shit like mentioned you owe it to you and the business to let them know, curteously let them know that you wont buy from them and support a business that doesn't appreciate customers, especially regular customers.

We did. After he yelled at us, we told him we weren't going to buy from them if he was going to treat us like that.

Good ol' Cafe Istanbul. When I go there I always smell the flavors that aren't sealed, like Starbuzz and Dejavu. I know the old man that you are talking about. I think he is the father of one of the owners. One time I bought a faulty KM hose from them. I brought it back and showed him and there was a major language barrier. He was getting angry and was yelling then the owner's son came out and I was like thank god he came. I was able to get a full refund so I put that money into some shisha.

The following week I went back to pick up some new AF and the old man was there but there was no drama. That happened about a year ago and I've probably been back once a month or once every other month.

We always used to smell flavors too. No big deal. Apparently we went when he was having a bad day or something.

The old guy DOES speak some English, but not much. First time I was there he treated me like a thief, shadowing me around. I don't think I look very shady, being 40 and a white female...but who knows?

Surprisingly enough they let me exchange my crappy quick-lite coals for some coconut ones. They said they never exchange stuff, but they let me. Might have been cuz I bought a lot of shisha, and I came back the next day.

The young guy is really nice, but a little absent-minded. The old guy's been nice the other times I went back. But not that first time! Maybe he remembered me and the fact that I didn't jack anything from the store.

BTW, I was surprised the store didn't carry many name brand hookahs. They seem popular so I figured they'd have some, but their selection just ranges from the LED light hookah to some big towering hookahs that MIGHT be KM. I couldn't tell...

For those of you who haven't tried the brand Deja Vu, you'll see they have A LOT of their flavors, both small and large size and the best price on Deja Vu in the valley. If you haven't tried them then do. The only bad thing is the way they wrap it. There's this huge sheet of plastic, covered in flavor, that it's wrapped in. I HATE THAT. But their chocolate strawberry is the BEST I've ever had. Check 'em out, their flavors are very true to the scent. Good shisha!
